We are concerned Americans from all walks of life who have come together in opposition to the dramatically increasing drive toward confrontation between the United States and China. We have launched a new effort called Pivot to Peace to educate and mobilize public opinion about the benefits of a policy that facilitates cooperation and mutual respect between the United States and China.

It has been almost 5 years since the Oct 2019 riots in Hong Kong. The Western media continues to talk about the protests as peaceful demonstrations for democracy. But the facts – seldom covered by the Western mainstream media – don’t seem to support the image of peaceful protests. These scientists have been surveilled, interrogated, and arrested, suspected of stealing trade secrets from US universities and research labs. While the Trump-era DOJ China Initiative is over, Anti-China rhetoric is ramping up. It’s no wonder many are leaving. Also hanging in the balance is the Science and Technology Agreement between the US and China, initially signed in 1979. As the US wages a new Cold War and declares power competition with China, what will happen with scientific exchange?
