Pivot to Peace strongly condemns the military attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of President Nicholas Maduro and his wife by American forces. These acts violated the Charter of the United Nations, the Constitution of the United State, and the basic norms of international law. These illegal measures are only the latest and most extreme steps in a long campaign of intimidation and aggression directed at the people of Venezuela and their government, which has extended across the past three decades under both Republican and Democratic administrations. The flimsy excuse of seeking to stop the flow of drugs into the U.S. is a fig leaf over the true motivations of grabbing Venezuela’s oil riches and overthrowing a government which has opposed the global domination of American power. Any country, any people, that wish to follow their own path of self-determination can only see these outrageous actions as a threat to their sovereignty, safety and freedom.

Pivot to Peace calls on the American people to express their rejection of the illegal assaults on Venezuela and its people. We demand the immediate release of the kidnapped president of the country and his wife, and their return to Caracas. The United States government must halt all hostile actions towards Venezuela and cease its efforts to seize its oil and other resources for the profit of American corporations.
