On June 27th, the San Francisco Chronicle Editorial board issued an opinion piece titled The COVID lab leak theory is still probably wrong which challenges this dangerous and widely accepted belief that the COVID-19 virus emerged from a lab in Wuhan, China. More than half of Americans believe this scientifically baseless claim. Many Asian Americans have suffered from the xenophobia this type of narrative generates, and the writers warn readers to steer clear from this dangerous path.
